"Go Your Own Way"
— by Fleetwood Mac
I was on my way to work one day not long ago, when an older lady that I often see near my job was on the train with me. She smiled, said hello, and we struck up a conversation. She told me that she thought I was Stevie Nicks.
Lindsey Buckingham wrote this as a message to Stevie Nicks. It describes their breakup, with the most obvious line being, "Packing up, shacking up is all you want to do." Stevie insisted she never shacked up with anyone when they were going out, and wanted Lindsey to take out the line; he refused. While the Rumours album was being recorded, the marriage of John and Christine McVie was also coming to an end. With these two couples breaking up during the sessions, recording was quite tense.
Loving you
Isn`t the right thing to do
How can I ever change things
That I feel
If I could
Maybe I`d give you my world
How can I
When you won`t get it from me
You can go your own way
Go your own way
You can call it
Another lonely day
You can go your own way
Go your own way
Tell me why
Everything turned around
Packing up
Shacking up is all you wanna do
If I could
Baby I`d you my world
Open up
Everything`s waiting for you
You can go your own way
Go your own way
You can call it
Another lonely day
You can go your own way
Go your own way
